I received this lamp a few weeks ago and I have to say that I am quite impressed with what it has to offer.
This rechargeable rugged flashlight is not only super bright, but also has a long range, making it perfect for outdoor activities such as camping and hiking.
In this review, I will share my personal experiences with this flashlight.
You will also find the advantages and disadvantages so that you can make an informed decision before making a purchase.
Advantages and Disadvantages of the Fenix TK20R UE
I would rather not keep you waiting long, but I want to let you know right away what I like and what I don't like about the flashlight.
What I like about the Fenix TK20R UE:
- The high-intensity SFT70-LED offers an incredibly bright and powerful light output.
- The maximum light intensity of 2800 lumens is perfect for illuminating large areas or providing good visibility in the distance.
- The included Fenix battery (Fenix ARB-L21-5000, 5000 mAh, 21700, 3.6 V, 18 Wh) has a long runtime and is rechargeable, which is super convenient.
- The construction made of aircraft-grade aluminum of quality A6061-T6 makes this flashlight extremely robust and resistant to harsh conditions.
- The waterproof and dustproof IP68 certification means that you can rely on this flashlight in any weather conditions.
What can be improved:
- The flashlight is a bit heavy for me.
As you can see, there isn't much that bothers me. However, the weight doesn't have to be a disadvantage - for my outdoor trips, I prefer a headlamp like the "Fenix HM61R v2.0 Headlamp" (here's my test and review of the Fenix HM61R v2.0 Headlamp).

The included user manual was helpful in familiarizing myself with the various adjustable light modes and properly charging the battery.
It provides clear instructions and contributes to an overall positive experience.
Functions - That's what I find particularly important
The Fenix TK20R UE flashlight is equipped with a powerful Luminus SFT70 LED that provides a maximum brightness of 2800 lumens.
The LED ensures a bright and clear light, perfect for tactical uses or outdoor activities.
Furthermore, the LED is designed to be energy-efficient, so you can use it for longer without worrying about battery consumption.
The Luminus SFT70 LED also has a long lifespan, so you can rely on this flashlight for many years.
An overheating protection ensures that the LED is not damaged. If the LED reaches a temperature above 60 degrees, the lamp automatically reduces the lumens.
This flashlight is particularly useful for nighttime activities such as camping, bushcraft, survival, hiking, or hunting.
The high luminous intensity and energy efficiency make them a reliable light source in any outdoor environment.
Pro Tip: To maximize the performance of the Luminus SFT70 LED, keep the flashlight clean and free from dirt particles. This ensures a clear and powerful light output at all times.
2800 Max Lumen output power
The Fenix TK20R UE flashlight is characterized by an impressive maximum output of 2800 lumens, providing a strong and far-reaching light.
This makes them ideal for outdoor activities such as search and rescue operations, highly visible signaling, or even as a self-defense tool in poorly lit situations.
With this brightness, you can be sure that the Fenix TK20R UE will illuminate even the darkest environments.
A6061-T6 Aircraft Aluminum
The casing of the Fenix TK20R UE flashlight is made of A6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum, which allows for a sturdy and lightweight construction.
This material ensures that the flashlight does not compromise its performance even under the harshest conditions and demanding use.
The aluminum body also provides excellent heat dissipation, so the flashlight does not overheat.
Waterproof according to IP68, 2m depth and dustproof
The Fenix TK20R UE flashlight is designed to withstand the elements and is waterproof up to 2 meters according to IP68 standard and dustproof.
This means that you can use the flashlight under different weather conditions without having to worry about water or dust damage.
Whether you find yourself in a heavy rain shower or walking along a dusty trail, the Fenix TK20R UE will continue to shine brightly and prepare you for any situation.
Pro Tip: Although the Fenix TK20R UE is waterproof and dustproof, it is always advisable to securely close the charging port and battery compartment before coming into contact with water or dust. This additional precaution helps to maintain the longevity of the flashlight.
Different lighting modes
Once you've looked into the user manual, you'll know the functions for turning the flashlight on and off.
As you can see in the image above, there is a switch/wheel and a button. Fenix calls this system the "FlexiSensa Control" - it can be easily operated with one hand.
The round button is the tactical switch for immediate activation. The upper FlexiSensa control is the function switch for mode selection.
- On/Off Switch
Tap the tactical switch to turn on the light quietly and momentarily. When you release it, the light will turn off. Press the tactical switch all the way until you hear the "click" sound to keep the light on permanently. Pressing it again will turn off the light. - Mode Switching
Rotate the FlexiSensa Control switch in any state to select the desired mode.- Tactical Mode: Tap the tactical switch while the light is on to switch between Turbo and Strobe. The light will remember the last selected output, including Strobe.
- Operating Mode: Tap the tactical switch while the light is on to switch between Turbo → High → Medium → Low. The lamp will remember the last selected output.
- Lockout/Off Mode: Rotate the FlexiSensa Control switch to the lockout mode in any state to turn off and lock the flashlight.
Here is an overview of the duration of luminosity:

Charging the Battery
When charging, plug the USB-C charging cable into the socket and on the other side of the lamp you will now see the status.
The small status LED is displayed in red during the charging process and turns green when it is fully charged.
After completing the loading process, make sure to tighten the lamp head to maintain dust and water resistance.
The normal charging time of the included Fenix ARB-L21-5000 V2.0 battery is approximately 3.5 hours from complete discharge to full charge.
👉 The light is unfortunately not available during the charging process
👉 Attention: If the LED blinks red while charging, something is wrong! The wrong battery is inserted or incorrectly inserted.
Battery Level Indicator
I really like these features on high-quality bags and headlamps from Fenix.
I never have to worry about how long the lamp will continue to provide light.
Every time the light is turned on, the LED display opposite the USB-C charging port (turn the light head to see) shows the battery level for 3 seconds.
Here is the table:
Green light on | full 100% - 85% |
---|---|
Green light blinking | sufficient 85% - 50% |
Red light on | weak 50% - 25% |
Red light blinking | critical 25% - 1% |
Note: This only works with rechargeable batteries from the Fenix ARB-L21 series.
Hidden USB-C charging port
Especially clever and I had to search for it first: the hidden USB-C charging port.
You have to turn the flashlight head clockwise for that.
My Conclusion: The Lamp is Worth It
👉 My rating: 81 out of 100 points.
I have to say that the Fenix TK20R UE impressed me. The maximum light output of 2800 lumens provides a bright light that reaches far and is perfect for outdoor activities such as camping or hiking.
The fact that it is rechargeable and comes with a Fenix ARB-L21-5000 v2 battery (value approx. 25 €) included is a major advantage.
The following batteries fit into the flashlight:
- Fenix ARB-L21-5000 V2.0
- Fenix ARB-L21-5000U
- Fenix ARB-L21-4000P
Other types of 21700 batteries are not recommended.
Another outstanding feature for me is the robust construction of this flashlight. Made from A6061-T6 aircraft aluminum and waterproof and dustproof, I feel confident using it in various weather conditions without worrying about damage.
The design in desert camouflage also gives the flashlight's appearance a cool and unique touch.
If you're looking for a high-quality, rechargeable tactical flashlight that provides ultra-bright illumination and a long range, I recommend the Fenix TK20R UE.
It is a reliable and durable tool that, in my opinion, meets the needs of outdoor enthusiasts and professionals.
