You've always wanted to have an outrageously affordable knife?

Which is also robust, sharp, rust-free, and well-made?

Then stay tuned because I'm introducing you to the Morakniv Companion.

The knife arrives very sharp

Do you have little time? Then watch the summary as a video.

The knife arrives at your home very sharp, and you can start right away. Due to its good sharpness, you need little effort to work on your wood.

Here are the facts:

  • The tip of the knife is sturdy and does not bend/break during normal work.
  • The blade steel is made of stainless Sandvik steel 12C27.
  • The knife is equipped with a non-slip plastic handle.
  • Total length 22 cm. Blade length 10 cm. Blade thickness 2.5 mm.

Note: The exact name of the knife is "Morakniv Companion, olive/black, Forest Green, stainless steel, M-11827".

The knife fits perfectly in the plastic sheath

The included plastic sheath holds the knife securely, so it won't fall out on its own. Not even when you run or bend over.

The plastic sheath has a belt clip that securely and firmly attaches your knife to the belt.

Workhorse for Bushcrafters

With the Morakniv Companion, you can accomplish many tasks. It is designed for hunting, outdoor, and recreational activities. For Bushcrafters and survivalists, it is essentially part of the standard equipment.

Carving, wood splitting (Batoning), processing firewood, pruning, filleting fish, preparing food.

Of course, Batoning only works with branches of small thickness. The knife is not an axe or a machete. Read my article "What is Batoning? [with Video]" for more information.

It is important to know here that the knife does not have a full tang blade, it is not a full integral knife (no Full Tang).

The knife is suitable for rough work as well as for more delicate carving.

Only disadvantage: You can't strike a fire steel with the back of the knife because the back of the knife is rounded. However, you can do that with its little brother, the Mora Eldris. Read my review and test "Mora Eldris - the Neckknife by Morakniv".

Or you can check out my review of the Mora Garberg Carbon. It's pricier, but the price is justified.

Order / Shipping / Delivery Contents

I ordered the knife from Amazon, and it arrived quickly, packaged in plastic wrap. Included was the knife as well as the sturdy plastic sheath.

A versatile knife that can withstand a lot

The knife is an all-purpose knife: robust, durable, and unbelievably affordable with a price of €12.99 (including shipping costs).

I like it simple and straightforward. That's where the Morakniv Companion really shines for me.

It is also allowed to possess and carry, as it is a fixed blade knife and the blade is less than 12 cm long.

If you are unsure which knife is legal or illegal, read my exclusive guide "Knife Law in Germany".

The Morakniv Companion Knife is an all-rounder

Other important points that I noticed:

  • has a low weight compared to other knives (118 grams)
  • has a good stainless steel
  • has a subtle appearance (also available in different colors)
  • it is easy to clean
  • it is difficult to sharpen, the carbon version is better suited for that

Other manufacturers can learn something from the Swedes here.

For me, a great carving knife and indispensable for daily work.

Therefore, there is a clear recommendation to buy.
